Swimming

It is summer time again, WOW! How time flies, when you’re having fun! One great way to exercise in the summer time and work on your Vitamin D is going swimming outside. On those hot days when you just can’t bear to go for your walk or run, go to the pool. You can swim laps, tread water, walk back and forth where the water is up to your shoulders, do jumping jacks, or play water volleyball. Water activities are a fantastic way to exercise without the extra stress on your joints that running causes. Also, water acts as resistance so there is no need to bring your dumbbells, you can just move your arms back and forth against water to create resistance. Finally, the best thing about getting outside and getting wet is that the kids love it as well. I like to call it “PLAYING” instead of exercise, even though you still burn those calories.
