Kiss Your Love Handles Goodbye

I know it is getting close to the holidays and you may be ramping up your workout routine / cardio in order to prepare for the extra calories you are thinking of consuming during Thanksgiving and Christmas. It is easy to eat or snack mindlessly when you are gathering with family and friends, but being aware of what you are consuming could help ward off those unnecessary pounds. Eat slowly and give your mind time to register when your stomach is full. It takes about 20 minutes for your mind to catch up with your stomach and feel satisfied. If you are worried about your mid-section then you should incorporate these crunches into your daily routine. The oblique abdominal muscle is that beautiful fan like muscle on each side traveling just below your arm pit down to your hip bone (iliac crest). This exercise is designed to isolate the muscle and pull in those love handles.

Here’s how:
Step 1: Lie on your side with your knees bent over top of each other, top hand (hand closest to the ceiling) behind your head or ear, the other hand / arm (one closest to the floor) gently lying on your opposite side (hip / thigh).

Step 2: Slowly crunch up bringing your elbow up and towards your hips. Do not tug or pull on your head, your obliques should be doing the work not your neck. Hold the crunch for 2-3 seconds then lower slowly. Repeat 15-20, then roll over and do the other side.
