Finding Ways to Exercise in the Fall Season

We are in Fall season and the leaves are beginning to change colors; many can be found on the ground.  This is a time of year when you can once again soak in the amazement of our Creator, God Almighty, and how remarkable His creations are in nature.  You can enjoy the fall season and find ways to exercise while being outside with your family. One great form of outdoor exercise this time of year is raking fallen leaves.  Make it a family event where it feels more like play than work.  Have the kids bag the piles of leaves by making it a contest or game.  Take turns raking the leaves together to see who can create the biggest pile, or use the pile of leaves (big piles) to run and jump into.  There are so many things we can do together as a family to get physically fit when it comes to falling leaves without it seeming like hard work. All that is really need is a little creativity.

Raking leaves works all of the following body parts: arms (biceps / triceps), shoulders, legs, and abdominals.  Shorter strokes work more of the upper body, arms and shoulders.  Longer strokes work the abdominals and legs.

Suggestion: If you don’t have enough leaves in your own yard help a neighbor!!
